VARIUS
The elegantly designed frame structure allows the chair and armchair to be stacked with ease. The optional row-joining mechanism is only visible when in use, making VARIUS ideal both as a stand-alone piece and when joined in a row.

Frame
4-foot frame featuring two continuously and evenly curved side sections from Ø 16 x 2 mm tubular steel in special cantilever quality (ZSTE420) and connecting 25 x 8 mm flat-steel ribs that feature drill holes to accommodate the seat shell. The side sections are securely welded (clean joints) to the connecting ribs (through metal active gas welding), the seat shell and the frame are connected by screws in four different locations.
Frame surfaces
Standard version of the frame: powder-coated in black, optionally powder-coated according to the BRUNE® collection, or chrome-plated.
Seat shell
Ergonomically shaped, one-piece shell made from beech plywood, approx. 9 mm thick, with multiple layers of glue. Fastened to the plywood shell at the lower frame with flat-head screws and threaded nuts (concealed).
Wooden surfaces
Wooden elements made from beech wood, with natural varnish (low-solvent water varnish) in the standard version. Optionally stained according to the BRUNE® collection.
Upholstery
Seats or seats and back supports and shells are optionally available with partial upholstery or fully upholstered shell, fabric cover according to the BRUNE® collection, fabric categories 3, 4, 6, 7 or 8.
Seat cushion foam: seat padding SG/CH 35/50, approx. 15 mm thick.
Back cushion foam: seat padding SG/CH 35/50, approx. 10 mm thick.
Upholstered seat shell: seat padding SG/CH 75/130, approx. 10 mm thick.
Seat cushion foam: fully upholstered SG/CH 35/50, approx. 15 mm thick.
Back cushion foam: fully upholstered SG/CH 35/50, approx. 10 mm thick (additionally 5 mm on the back side).
(SG = specific gravity, weight per m³, CH = compression hardness)
Armrests upholstery
Armrests are optionally padded, 200 mm long. Fabric cover according to the BRUNE® collection, fabric categories 3, 4, 6, 7 or 8. In case of padded armrests, stackability is limited.
Gliders
Standard version: plastic gliders.
Optionally: felt gliders.

Prof. Matthias Rexforth
Matthias Rexforth (born 1963) studied product design at the University of Kassel and received his diploma in 1994. In 1995, he founded his atelier x_products and since then he has designed furniture for national and international companies. Since 2003, he holds a chair for Interior Design at the FH Aachen. His work for BRUNE were, among others, awarded with the Red Dot Award.
Matthias Rexforth is lives and works in Krefeld.
